Body Shop Technician

 We’re seeking a mid-level Body Shop Technician to perform truck and trailer collision repair and refinish work. This role supports safe, timely repairs across a wide range of equipment and requires strong hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Major Responsibilities - Body Shop Technician

  • Perform all levels of truck collision repair and maintenance services, which may include:
    • Cab and sheet metal repair
    • Fiberglass repair
    • Composite bonding/repair
    • Welding and fabrication
    • Paint prep, mixing, tinting, blending, and refinishing
  • Inspect and determine parts required for repair of disassembled truck and trailer units
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document appropriately on repair orders
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Road test vehicles when necessary
  • Complete work accurately, on time, and with little or no supervision
  • Support additional projects and tasks as assigned

Qualifications - Body Shop Technician

  • 4 years of practical experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Vocational/technical school preferred
  • Specialized training/experience repairing and refinishing truck and trailer equipment required
  • Proficiency with tools of the trade required (welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines, power tools)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Ability to understand and comply with written/verbal instructions, guidelines, and safety policies
  • Must perform all work in compliance with DOT and OSHA requirements and established safety procedures (PPE, machine guarding, proper tool selection/use, etc.)
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential job function

DOT / Safety-Sensitive Requirements - Body Shop Technician

Because this role involves driving company and customer vehicles, it is regulated by DOT and/or designated safety-sensitive. A current driver qualification file must be maintained, which may include:

  • Annual motor vehicle records (MVR) check
  • DOT physical (as applicable)
  • Safety Performance History requests from prior employers (past 3 years)

Employment is contingent upon completing an application and participating in any required background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements - Body Shop Technician

  • Frequent movement throughout shift: standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods
  • Daily use of hands for grasping, reaching, handling tools/controls
  • Ability to work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms
  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to see and hear sufficiently to navigate a busy shop environment with moving trucks
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to push/pull truck tires regularly that exceed 100 lbs

Pay, Shift, Location - Body Shop Technician
  • Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm
  • Pay: $25-$30+ per hour based on experience
  • Location: West Bottoms Kansas City, Missouri
