The Chemical Production Supervisor is responsible for leading the production team toward operational excellence and continuous improvement. This role ensures that production processes operate smoothly, efficiently, and reliably. By promoting a data-driven mindset focused on ongoing improvement, the supervisor will help elevate team performance and production outcomes.

The role directly oversees Shift Supervisors and the Documentation Engineer/Technical Writer, providing guidance and direction to meet departmental and organizational goals. The Chemical Production Supervisor will uphold and support the company’s values, policies, and strategic objectives while representing the organization in a professional and knowledgeable manner.

Salary: 140,000

  • Leads and develops teams by setting clear expectations, providing timely feedback, holding staff accountable, and conducting performance management and training.
  • Drives operational excellence by utilizing KPIs, managing budgets, engineering systems to improve behaviors, and implementing effective SOPs and change management processes.

  • Promotes a proactive culture focused on continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and empowering employees at all levels to solve problems.

  • Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, as well as internal policies and procedures, including disciplinary actions when necessary.

  • Oversees daily production operations including staffing, scheduling, contractor/vendor qualification, and communication of department performance to leadership.

  • Fosters a collaborative environment that supports innovation, team cohesion, and effective communication across all levels of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred) from an accredited institution.

  • 3–5 years of operations experience in large-scale, continuous process manufacturing; ethanol production experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with industrial equipment (e.g., evaporators, heat exchangers, centrifuges, boilers, compressors, pumps, valves, instrumentation).

  • 3–5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.


Physical Requirements:

 

  • Physical Activity & Mobility : Must frequently walk, stand, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), climb stairs/ladders (up to 200 feet), and enter confined spaces.

  • Industrial Environment : Must be comfortable working near heavy machinery, in dusty or chemical-laden areas, and in varying conditions.

  • Protective Gear Use : Must be able to consistently wear PPE such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.

  • Communication & Sensory Abilities : Must be capable of using a 2-way radio, recognizing color variations on screens, and performing tasks involving visual, auditory, and tactile perception.

  • Emergency Readiness : Must be available for after-hours work and able to respond to urgent situations on a 24/7 basis.
