We are seeking a Controller who can bring both hands-on accounting leadership and strategic financial clarity to the business. This role is responsible for the integrity of the companies financial operations—ensuring our reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with applicable regulatory guidance—while also elevating visibility for leadership through meaningful analysis, strong controls, and disciplined execution.
As Controller, you’ll be the go-to financial partner for executive management: translating numbers into insight, identifying risk and opportunity early, and helping drive sound decisions that protect the business and fuel growth. You’ll lead the accounting function end-to-end, strengthen systems and processes, support budgeting and forecasting, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team. Duties
- Lead the general ledger, month-end/year-end close, bank reconciliations, A/P, A/R, fixed assets/depreciation, and accurate financial reporting/variance analysis.
- Maintain internal controls, documented procedures, the accounting system/backup controls, and coordinate year-end audit support.
- Own budgeting and forecasting and related reporting for leadership.
- Hire/Coach the team, drive process improvements, oversee collegiate licensing compliance, ensure eCommerce reporting reconciles to website activity, manage annual insurance renewals, and support special projects for the Executive team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years private-sector accounting (manufacturing strongly preferred); budgeting/forecasting and fiscal management experience required.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting/analysis, banking/cash management, and building/maintaining recordkeeping systems and controls.
- Clear written/verbal communication (reports/presentations), strong problem-solving and judgment, detail-oriented, able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, works independently and cross-functionally, professional/discreet with confidential information, dependable attendance.
