Department Supervisor Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct hourly production teams to achieve daily output, quality, and efficiency goals.
- Plan and assign work using available labor, equipment, tooling, and skills to optimize cost and workmanship.
- Coordinate manufacturing operations to maintain production schedules and reduce downtime and scrap.
- Maintain compliance with workplace rules, safety policies, and quality standards; administer corrective action when needed (per policy).
- Record and report production, labor, staffing, and scrap data accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams on tooling, process improvements, production methods, and workflow efficiency.
- Participate in training and operational programs such as communications, job training, performance reviews, and wage administration support.
- Maintain security of the facility, equipment, materials, and personnel within the department’s area.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and support inventory control practices.
- Provide leadership coverage in management absences, as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Organize and assign work to best utilize team capabilities and available resources.
- Ensure product quality and accuracy while meeting production schedules.
- Build, train, and maintain an efficient workforce aligned with workload and staffing requirements.
- Enforce safe work practices, proper use of PPE/safety devices, and strong housekeeping standards; continuously identify and address hazards.
- Promote a professional, respectful work environment and maintain strong employee relations.
- Lift up to 45 lbs unassisted (with or without reasonable accommodation); lifting over 45 lbs requires team lift (2+ people).
- Frequently lift/carry/push/pull 45–80 lbs (team lift required over 45 lbs).
- Stand/walk for extended periods ( 8–12 hours/day ).
- Move safely across a manufacturing floor; bend, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs/ladders as needed.
- Use hands/wrists/fingers for repetitive tasks; demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination (including hand/power tools).
- Work in a loud, fast-paced industrial environment and in hot/cold conditions .
- Frequent use of computer/keyboard/tablet/scanner as needed.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with group/public speaking.
- Ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees and management.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience .
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and commitment to safe work practices.
