Electrical/Controls Technician
Pay:$27+ per hour, depending on experience
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 12V/24V electrical systems, controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Electrical Controls Technician Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and work from hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
- Fabricate and install piping, stainless-steel lines, air lines, and related components.
- Build and install 12V/24V electrical systems, wiring, controls, and components.
- Perform fitting, assembly, installation, alignment, and adjustment of complex components to engineering specifications and tolerances.
- Complete work according to build orders, engineering standards, and established quality requirements.
- Install electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and specialized components consistently and accurately.
- Build and install boxes, enclosures, controls, and specialized components based on individual truck designs.
- Inspect completed work and verify that components and assemblies meet specifications.
- Troubleshoot electrical and controls-related issues and make necessary adjustments or repairs.
- Accurately document work completed and any issues identified during the build process.
- Properly use, maintain, and account for all personal and company tools and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Protect customer trucks and equipment by maintaining a clean and professional work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Work effectively with engineering, production, service, and other departments.
- Manage time effectively while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
- Safely climb ladders and work at elevated heights when required.
- Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical controls, industrial controls, truck equipment, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience working with 12V/24V electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and controls-related testing equipment.
- Must have a complete set of quality personal tools and an appropriate toolbox.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to safely climb ladders and perform physical work required in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience
- ASE certification.
- Diesel mechanic experience.
- Experience working on Freightliner, International, or other heavy-duty truck chassis.
- Experience with truck-mounted equipment, specialty vehicles, or upfitting.
- Previous experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
