 We are seeking a Materials Manager to lead a cross-functional materials organization and ensure end-to-end material flow, inventory integrity, and logistics execution in support of production and customer demand. This role drives standardized processes, strong supplier performance, and continuous improvement across materials, logistics, and packaging.


Materials Manager — Chicago, IL Pay:  $105,000–$130,000 annually

Position Summary

Materials Manager Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional materials team, including Assistant Materials Managers, Logistics Specialists, Coordinators, and Planners.
  • Establish and maintain standardized systems and processes to ensure accurate reporting, strong data integrity, and on-time execution.
  • Partner with manufacturing and customers to align production schedules, transportation plans, and inventory levels to meet demand.
  • Ensure receiving processes and system transactions are accurate and timely to protect inventory integrity and system reliability.
  • Drive team performance through ongoing coaching, development, and performance evaluation to meet current and future business needs.
  • Manage supplier relationships with a focus on performance, accountability, and alignment to operational objectives.
  • Oversee procurement and material availability for production and service components, ensuring timely replenishment and issue resolution.
  • Monitor inventory health, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy to consistently meet company targets.
  • Evaluate internal equipment and service capabilities to ensure alignment with production volumes and operational demands.
  • Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across materials, logistics, and packaging functions.
  • Establish, track, and report key operating indicators (KOIs), driving accountability and results.
  • Oversee packaging and logistics strategies, including premium freight reduction, routing optimization, and customer compliance (CLIPS).
  • Maintain and optimize PFEP (Plan for Every Part), ensuring appropriate Min/Max levels across all locations.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with company standards and operational requirements.
  • Promote a safe work environment by reinforcing safety policies, emergency procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Support additional business needs and initiatives as assigned by leadership.
