Step into a high-impact, hands-on engineering role where you’ll own custom heavy-duty equipment projects from concept through production. As a Project Engineer, you’ll blend mechanical design, systems integration, and project leadership to deliver safe, reliable, regulation-compliant specialty vehicles—think aircraft refuelers, fuel tank trucks, crane trucks, and railroad maintenance equipment. You’ll collaborate closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams while driving smarter designs, cleaner builds, and continuous product improvement.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end execution of custom vehicle projects—scope, design strategy, reviews, deliverables, and launch support.
- Engineer integrated vehicle systems (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical), including component selection, sizing, and performance analysis.
- Produce production-ready designs and documentation: 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, weldments/fabrications, packaging, and weight distribution (using FEA when appropriate).
- Partner cross-functionally (Sales, Purchasing, Production, Service, suppliers, customers) to manage schedule/risk, troubleshoot build issues, and drive continuous improvement/mentorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related) or equivalent combination of education + hands-on engineering experience.
- 3–5 years of engineering experience (preferably heavy/mobile equipment, trucking, automotive, industrial machinery, or similar).
- Proficiency with 3D CAD and engineering documentation (SolidWorks strongly preferred) plus working knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics/electrical/structural design.
- Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills; able to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team and customers.
