Quality Manager Job Duties:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Quality team; build development plans and measure department effectiveness.
- Own corrective and preventive actions; analyze and improve customer quality metrics (PPMs, PRRs, NCTs, QRs, etc.).
- Maintain and continuously improve AIAG Core Tools (Control Plans, PFMEA, and related documentation) aligned to process changes and CAPA.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on root cause/problem-solving and data-driven reporting systems.
- Lead APQP and PPAP activities; ensure compliance with internal, customer, and AIAG requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ensure products meet fit/finish/durability/appearance specifications; monitor key product/process characteristics and drive improvement plans.
- Maintain internal and customer quality databases; ensure proper use and control of certification marks and notify certification bodies as required.
- Serve as the customer-facing quality representative for plant-level concerns and complaint responses.
- Drive improvements tied to scrap reduction, downtime, efficiency, and First Time Quality (FTQ).
- Own supplier quality performance, including supplier audits and site visits.
- Ensure quality activities follow established requirements and support all safety procedures.
- Escalate significant quality, safety, facility, or performance risks to plant leadership.
- Initiate actions to prevent nonconformance and control nonconforming product disposition.
- Identify, document, track, and verify corrective/preventive solutions.
- Approve PPAP documentation, customer complaint responses, and updates to Core Quality Tools.
- Approve applicable operating documentation and departmental purchase requisitions.
Quality Manager Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a manufacturing-related field and/or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (or equivalent combination).
- 5+ years in Quality Engineering within Tier 1 automotive manufacturing.
- 3+ years in quality leadership/supervision.
- Strong AIAG Core Tools expertise (APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.).
- Qualified/approved for color and appearance testing; experience with color testing equipment (e.g., Macbeth or equivalent).
