 The Send Out Clerk is an entry-level position responsible for the efficient and accurate processing, packaging, and shipment of laboratory specimens to outside reference laboratories for specialized testing. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and timely delivery of samples, thereby supporting accurate patient diagnoses and care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.


The Send Out Clerk is an entry-level position responsible for the efficient and accurate processing, packaging, and shipment of laboratory specimens to outside reference laboratories for specialized testing. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and timely delivery of samples, thereby supporting accurate patient diagnoses and care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Specimen Processing and Preparation: Accurately split, prepare, and verify the identification of patient samples and slides for shipment to external labs and for internal use (including Tumor Board review), while strictly following sterile technique.

  • Documentation and Data Management: Process all paperwork (requisitions, reports) completely and accurately, and locate/maintain patient records using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

  • Safety and Compliance: Consistently practice universal precaution measures and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling patient samples.

  • Operational Support: Assist in managing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintain adequate stock of supplies, and communicate with external hospitals to coordinate the timely return of materials.

  • Quality and Performance: Must consistently demonstrate quality control by monitoring work for accuracy and thoroughness, ensuring departmental production and quality standards are met, and delivering work on time.

  • Qualifications (Education): Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent as a minimum, with an Associate's Degree preferred .

  • Qualifications (Experience & Skills): Would prefer candidates with 1 year of related experience , strong computer literacy , the ability to manage multiple priorities , and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Salary: $20-$24/ Hour
