- Lead and supervise shop operations including cutting, fitting, welding, assembly, and finishing
- Manage manpower and workflow to hit productivity, cost, and schedule targets
- Set shop priorities and coordinate production scheduling with leadership
- Review shop drawings and ensure fabrication meets structural specs and project requirements
- Interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and technical schematics
- Partner closely with project managers and engineers to support execution and delivery
- Oversee use and maintenance coordination for shop equipment (e.g., plasma cutters, press brakes, machining tools, cranes, forklifts )
- Ensure welding activities meet required codes, standards, and specifications
- Enforce quality control processes, verifying dimensions/tolerances throughout fabrication
- Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all safety policies (including OSHA expectations)
- Train, mentor, and evaluate shop team members; provide coaching and performance feedback
- Identify detailing/fabrication issues and drive solutions with internal project teams
- Use PowerFab Steel Management (and related tools) to track and manage shop production
- 5+ years of structural steel fabrication experience
- 5+ years in a shop supervisor/manager role
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication
- Proven ability to coordinate labor, workflows, and production schedules
- Solid understanding of fabrication processes, welding operations, and shop throughput
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication details
- Proficiency with shop/production software (e.g., PowerFab )
- Working knowledge of shop equipment and rigging/handling operations
- Experience managing a structural steel fabrication plant/production facility
- Experience coordinating with third-party inspectors and customer representatives
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
